First and foremost I want to welcome you all – family, friends, and FANS – to my new Web site, BR-7.com. Once finished, I hope that you all will enjoy it enough to come back on a daily basis, and tell everyone you know about OUR site. Life has been moving very quickly for me since I declared for the NFL Draft, and through my Web site I hope to share my thoughts with you on the latest news.
This stuff is all new to me, and I intend to write about whatever is on my mind at the time. Hopefully you’ll appreciate my effort and honesty. So I guess I wanted to take a quick second to let you all know what’s happening right now. I am back home in Findlay for about a week until I report to our first mini camp.
I guess I am a little nervous but mostly just excited to finally be able to get back on the football field and play. I can’t wait to throw to NFL receivers and be around so many great players. I went to Pittsburgh for a press conference after the draft, and met with the coaches and some of my new teammates. I was given a playbook that I have been studying every day… it is really thick and there is a lot to know, but I guess that comes with being a QB.
Leading up to the draft, I was anxious to get it over with and find out what team I would be playing for and what city I would be moving to. I definitely wanted to be the first quarterback picked and even the first pick in the draft, but most important, I wanted to go to a team that really wanted me.
The draft was full of so much drama, but it all just got me burning to succeed. When the Steelers finally called, I wanted to suit up right away and go play. I have always been grateful to Miami University for giving me the chance to play quarterback, and now I will carry that over to the Pittsburgh Steelers. I love football, and all I want to do is win games.
Well I hope that everyone checks back soon for another update on how I am doing with this whole NEW football thing. Take care and I’ll see you back here soon!
Go Redhawks… and GO STEELERS!
-Ben
