Old and wise

Bet you will be wearing a helmet now. My daughter has FINALLY learned something positive concerning helmets from you.... her roll model!

Lesson learned, everyone take great notes...everyone see that face shaped 6 inch deep dent in the glass of that car he kissed?! I would definitely handle that glass with care now if I was the owner. Think how much that is worth!! tisk tisk...

Ben,
Hope you are doing ok!! You scared the **** out of all of us!!
Please, be very careful when you ride (and I know you will) again.
Your fans can't take another scare like this. Keeping you in prayer as you recover!

Barbara

Dearest Ben:

You are a young daring man - if you were NOT a risk taker, you would not be a football player. You were NOT at fault and don't let anyone tell you that.

Please know I'm praying for your FULL recovery - FOR YOU AS A PERSON - NOT JUST A STEELER...

You are a good person & good things happen to good people. I have faith that you will have a 100% recovery and will be back doing what you love (WHATEVER THAT MAY BE) very soon.

I will be a true fan of yours forever....

GOD BLESS YOU!

Susie

Hi Ben,

I hope you are feeling much better. You know for such an intelligent man and super Steeler you did a very stupid thing. A helmet is needed. I hope PA changes their law and make helmets a must. I know you'll be back on your bike, but be careful from now on. We all know the Coach chewed you out once before about not wearing a helmet. You should have listened. I do hope for your full recovery and hope to see you on the field this season. You are in my thoughts and prayers. But from now on, wear the helmet. If you need to wear it on the field, you need to wear it on your bike. I've been a loyal Steeler fan since 1969, and I mean a die hard fan. You've done so many great things and the Steelers fans are so proud of you, but your accident not only hurt you, but it could hurt your teams season. Fans have counted on you, and I hope they still can. Get well fast so you can join your teammates at camp.

A die hard fan to the bitter end.

Hello Ben

First I want to wish you a speedy recovery. Now for the part that you aren't going to like if you even read this. I am not a real Steelers fan but I was a hugh Big Ben fan. I did have a lot of respect and admiration for you until you put your life at risk and the success of your teammates in jeperody just so you could feel macho.
the minute you put on that uniform you gave up the right to do whatever you think is cool. You are a role model to millions of fans and more importantly kids. they look up to you and want to be like you. How are you going to feel if some kid crashes his bike or dirt bike and is seriously injuried or killed because his hero, Ben doesn't believe in wearing a helmet?

You owe it to yourself, your family, your team mates, the steelers orgination and millions of fans to be more than you have showed by risking it all just so you could look cool. I doubt you were awake to see the pain fear and worry on the faces of your family and friends. I hope that knowing you made your stepmom cry sticks with you for a very long time.

I would like to suggest to you that a good way for you to start to rebuild your image with your fans is to go public and admit that you made a mistake by not wearing your helmet and for you to work with kids about the importance of wearing a helmet not only on a mortorcycle but on a bike as well. You are in a postion to do some really good work if you are man enough to step up to the plate off the field like you do on the field. You are in a position to have tha tlaw repealed if you have the guts to stand up.

While it will take me some time to regain the admiration I once had for you I do wish you a speedy recovery and all the best in both your personal and proffessional life.

Its amazing what some people will do to get out of spring training camp:-) You should count your blessings and dont worry about what people say. We all make mistakes but the great ones learn and they become better people. It will become part of your legend when your career is all said and done. I wish you a speedy recovery. Go Steelers!!!! Lets repeat last season and rock on dude!
Best regards, Glenn

Duh Big Ben, I hope when you are all healed up you become one of the biggest advocates of wearing a helmet when you ride a motorcycle there is. Life is short and you almost lost yours.

Dear Ben,
You really don't need to apologize for your accident that is what it was. Just hope your feeling better. Take care we all love you. I can give great massages.........get well

Susan

Ben - I've been a HUGE Steeler fan all my life from Beaver Falls and that didn't change when I moved away. At my desk in Kentucky I have the front page of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette from Feb. 6th printed from the internet still hanging to remind myself of how great that win was. Remember that picture? Coach Cowler has you by the jersey with a big grin on his face and you are laughing. Did you realize at the time what you had just accomplished?!?! And now? First and most importantly you could have been killed! Second, all the Steeler fans who couldn't wait to finally get the dynasty going again and have spent the winter looking forward to the new season are just sick over the decision you made to not wear a helmet. You have such potential to be the BEST QB ever because you used your head on the field. IN THE FUTURE......PROTECT IT OFF THE FIELD AS WELL!!! Get well soon and we wish you the best in 2006!

Dustin

Hi Ben,

I am going to watch and hope to see you play on Monday night. You are my favorite player, but Charlie Batch is cool too. Good luck getting back on the field. Go Steelers.

Hiya Ben, Well, were do i begin? I am a 30 yr. women who loves to watch you play. I got to go to Denver and watch you do it!! That was great. Then a bunch of us went to Detroit to see you do it again.. WOW!! Iam so happy to see you feeling better and got your game back. As for your cute rotti.....ummmm...i'm guessing 2.5 yrs. All i can say Ben is good luck for the remainder of the year....I have total and complete faith in you.

Hi Ben! Happy to see you are back. Seems people are making all kinds of comments regarding your recent play. Everyone seems to forget we are missing 3 key players from last year, who were very instrumental in getting to and winning the Super Bowl. I know you are tired of hearing people critique your play and the teams play, but one huge difference I see in you this year from last year, is that you are not taking advantage of your up people when a pass play is called. I know you want to hit that big long play, but last year you would take what the teams gave you, and eventually the long play would come. You have so many great people to work with, I think you should trust them to make good plays. You blew away all the other teams your first year because you took what they gave you. I compared you to Brady in a way your first year, as Brady is always so patient and if he can't get the protection or the long plays are not open, he just drops it off and lets his playlers try to make something of a 5 yard pass and most of the time they do. Anyway, I love you guys and am a real die hard Steeler Fan. I post pictures of every game on my wall in my office, win or lose. I think you guys will pull it out and get to the play-offs this year. I am sure of it. Good luck!

Sue

Hi Ben,

Hope you check in at this time while you may be feeling the pressure. My confidence in you will never waiver. Believe in yourself and take good care of yourself. Good luck and good health.
