I heard you may be on your way home soon. That's a very good thing.
I'm not as opposed to the bike as so many people seem to be. Just please wear a helmet. I know you don't like to, and truthfully I don't either. But it could easily be the difference between life and death, so I think it's a good idea to wear one.

Correction to my post...about the messengers...it should read...it is out of nothing but caring ;-)...they want to drive home the point clearly because they care..we care!

Speedy Recovery and Prayers to you Ben

chuck

Glad to hear your recovery is going better than expected. As a life long steeler fan and motorcycle rider for the last 20 years I just want to say, don't let people judge you or get you down. You did not make a mistake, you made a choice that you are entitled to make. I respect your decision to live your life on your terms and not let being an athlete go to your head or change who you are. I hope you continue to ride, with or without a helmet that is your choice. But get that license renewed.

Ben:

I am so thankful to God that you were not seriously injured. I hope that you will be able to play football well this year. I live in Dallas area, but I am a big Pittsburg fan. Stay well and live intelligently. May God continue to bless you and your career.

Hi Ben,
I'm am glad to hear that you are not to seriously injured. I hope the rest of your recovery goes well also. My whole family are major fans of you and the Steelers. My sis loves you. We hope to see you out on the feild again next year. But I also wanted to write and ask you to think about something. The Pa law that allows people to ride motorcycles with out helmets. A friend of mine was in an accident similar to yours. He is doing well, but i fear for those who could have a fatal accident with not helmet on. Unlike myself, you have alot of influence in the world and I was wondering if you could use that influence to change the law. And help protect those who chose to ride motorcycles. Thanks for listening. I hope you get well soon.
Sincerly

I apologize for all the illiterates in this City. Please know the TRUE Steeler fans are not part of this "kick a person when they are down" disease that is so common for this city of hypocrites. May God continue blessing you and from now on WATCH FOX TV instead of the the local egotistical turncoat stations with WTAE and KDKA. Talk about gratitude to a young man who has put Pittsburgh on the map!!! You owe Pittsburgh nothing ... but you owe yourself happiness and peace of mind and the best wishes for a speedy recovery from TRUE STEELER FANS!!

Robert

What a great gift - you're going to be OK. God bless you and your family. Looking forward to seeing that arm in September buddy!

Cailyn

Hey Ben...I hope you are doing okay after your accident. I was on the verge of tears when I heard you wrecked your bike. I couldn't believe it. You are my favorite player ever and I just think you are an amazing athlete. I'm just glad to hear you are doing okay though, you really mean a lot to the Steelers and you are obviously an icon in the city of Pittburgh. Anyway I don't want to make this too long so I'll stop rambling now. I hope you are doing okay and I can't wait to see you playing in September :). All the best...You're #1 fan, Cailyn

p.s. if you ever get a chance, email me sometime.

Ben, as a local ER doc in your hometown, I could have easily been the one to take care of you the other day. Please, please, please use this forum to help advocate for motorcycle helmet use...it is an issue that I am passionate about having seen many people far less fortunately than you.

Take care, and recover quickly. You will have a great season, and you never know, the extra rest your body is getting as a result of this injury may help boost you to new achievements this year!

MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS. IN SOME STATES IT IS PART OF DRIVERS ED, AND WITH THE GROWING NUMBER OF RIDERS OUT HERE, IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY IN ALL. HERE IN OHIO WE HAVE "MOTORCYLCE OHIO" AND IT TAUGHT ME ALOT ABOUT WATCHING OUT FOR THE CARS THAT AREN'T WATCHING OUT FOR ME! THEY ARE PUSHING FOR "AWARENESS" HOPEFULLY SOME GOOD WILL COME OUT OF YOUR ACCIDENT (IT'S AWFUL THAT SOMETHING BAD HAS TO HAPPEN IN ORDER FOR SOMETHING GOOD TO HAPPEN), MAYBE YOU HAVE BROUGHT SOME LIGHT TO THIS SUBJECT AND MAYBE, JUST MAYBE DRIVERS WILL START TAKING NOTICE TO US. I AM A RIDER MYSELF AND I THINK I WILL NEVER WRECK!!! YEP, I HAVE THAT "IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO ME BECAUSE I'M A GOOD DRIVER"! EVEN THOUGH I AM SO SADDENED BY YOUR ACCIDENT, SINCE THEN I HAVE WORN MY HELMET AND WILL FROM THAT DAY FORWARD. TAKE CARE, AND BE SAFE, NOT FOR THE TEAM, NOT FOR US FANS, BUT FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY BECAUSE AFTER ALL IS SADI AND DONE, FAMILY IS ALL YOU HAVE.
RENEE
ps I don't think you needed to apologize to us Steelers fans, we're just thanking God you're okay. By now you know us, we stick with our Steelers through thick and thin.

Amber

Dear Ben,
Thank God you survived. We have been praying for your life and recovery since we heard the news, and God listens. He gave us a miracle, Ben. Such a relief it was to hear the good news after your surgery, and to read your statement. Thanks. Take it easy and heal up well. Looking forward to seeing you on the field in September and to another awesome season. Don't let the negative talkers get you down; greater is He who is in you than He who is in the world. God bless you and your family and the Steelers and Pittsburgh.

I am so glad you are going to be ok, best wishes on a speedy recovery! I am 32 years old but something about you makes me feel like some crazed teenager again, that's not a bad thing. I hated football 'til you came along. Check out my space when you are feeling better.

it was your choice,I'm glad you're going to be OK!!!!! I think you should design a steelers helmet for motorcycle riding...I know lots of people that would buy one!!!

Kristyn

I hope you are recovering quickly!

Hey Ben, I hope you are feeling better. But to be honest with you, I am so tired of hearing people diss you about your accident. Afterall, you are human so therefore, you are entitled to have them. Well I just hope you will have a fast and full recovery. Looking forward to see you back on the field; until then you will remain in my prayers.

Jamie

I was very shocked, Ben, when my boyfriend told me you got in a motorcycle accident. so shocked that I looked rather stupid, standing there in church, open mouthed. I am thankful that you are okay, and I pray that you do return for the season, it wouldn't be the same without you. he was going on and on about how you should have been more careful, and all I could think about was, Ben wrecked, are you sure you are talking about Ben? is he okay, does he have to go to the hosbital, Can he play again, Will he live? You really should Blog again, I would like to hear of your condition from you. Good luck in all you do, and know that you are remembered in my prayers. My email is on your mailing list, so I await to hear from you again.
Love
Jamie
